Workflow for processing recorded vinyl? #6143

You should check out the "lineage" or lineage.txt files included with many vinyl rips posted online. They talk about the process of ripping, though often not in much detail. It's going to be similar to tape/cassette ripping and a bit different from CD ripping. There's no track metadata in vinyl, so you'll have to split the tracks semi-manually. There may be scripts for this but I'm not aware of any. Wouldn't surprise me if the $2000+ vinyl market had something for this. Here are two examples. Original vinyl pressing > ProJect Classic SB (Ortofon Quintet Red MC) > Cambridge Audio CP-2 > Marantz PM6005 > Audacity (captured in 24/96) > Adobe Audition (amplify/clean-up/track split)(resample at 24/48) > Foobar (convert WAV to FLAC) Computer: Vinyl: iZotope DeClicker and Audition's built-in declicker plugin were used to eliminate clicks and pops. Manual declicking is used. iZotope DeNoiser was used to eliminate any low-frequency rumble (below 40 Hz) |

Lets say I want to digitize a large vinyl collection (~200 records), are there any existing workflows for that? I am imagining this would be not extremely straighforward but it would be incredibly nice to go from a recorded file via audacity to the individual track files in a format I want them in with appropriate metadata. If this doesn't exist, I plan on working on it anyways so if there is a want for this in the codebase I am happy to contribute!
